Early Head Start Child Educator

QUALIFICATIONS 1.

Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 18 credit hours in child development or early childhood education or an associate's degree (or equivalent) in child development or early childhood education is required. Must be able to obtain a bachelor's degree within three years of hire. 2. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with service organizations, parents, and children from birth to three years. 3. Following hire, a ServSafe credential must be obtained to ensure food safety. 4. Ability to work with people of varying ethnic/cultural and social backgrounds. 5. Must possess ability to physically perform job assignments, including, but not limited to, lifting and carrying children up to 40 pounds. 6. Must possess a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and have ability to travel throughout the service area. Must obtain a chauffeur's license to transport passengers following hire. 7. Must successfully pass all agency-required background checks, physical and TB test prior to hire. • 5:30 p.m.; Thursdays, 7:30 a.m.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES 1.

Provide center programming three times per week for infants and toddlers enrolled in the locally designed (combination) option, specifically those on their caseload. 2. Provide twice monthly home visits for infants, toddlers, and their families on their caseload. 3. Plan and conduct activities for children to address five basic areas of development: language, cognitive, physical, social, and emotional. 4. With parent permission and cooperation, conduct screenings and assessments on children, including developmental, social-emotional, hearing, vision, etc. 5. Ensure that children receive well-child exams and other health requirements and special needs services as expected for their age and developmental level.
