Job Description

Category Schools - Social Worker Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact in the school community by supporting elementary students as a school social worker for a contract assignment running from the start of November through the end of December, 2026. This opportunity is perfect for a compassionate, adaptable professional who thrives in educational settings and enjoys helping young learners overcome challenges. You will be based in an elementary environment, working with students and collaborating with staff to foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere while covering a maternity leave.
Your Role:
Manage a caseload of elementary students across two school sites Conduct social-emotional assessments to understand student needs Develop intervention plans and support strategies in collaboration with teachers, administrators, and families Provide group and individual counseling tailored to diverse backgrounds and challenges Assist with crisis intervention and offer consistent follow-up as appropriate Advocate for student well-being and ensure they have access to resources and support Maintain thorough, confidential documentation and participate in relevant meetings
Desired Background:
Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited program Valid School Social Worker licensure or approval in Michigan Prior experience providing social work services in an elementary or K-12 setting Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to navigate school systems and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
