Job Description

Embark on a rewarding opportunity to support students in a vibrant educational setting. This contract position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact as a School Social Worker, Special Education, servicing learners at a transitional education program. The assignment is based at a well-resourced technical college campus, working with the Transitional Education Service Alternative Program (TESA), where collaborative teamwork and student-centered approaches shape every day. In this role, you will provide social-emotional support to students with special needs, partner closely with educators and families, and help foster a positive, inclusive environment. Your expertise will help guide students toward greater independence and personal growth.
Ideal candidates have:
Active licensure in school social work (or eligibility for state certification) Previous experience in educational settings, ideally with special education populations Strong understanding of IEP processes and documentation Energetic communication and collaboration skills A compassionate, adaptable approach to supporting diverse learners Proficiency with behavioral intervention and crisis de-escalation strategies Key responsibilities include: Conducting assessments and providing direct social-emotional counseling to students Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in developing and implementing IEPs Serving as a bridge between students, families, and school staff to coordinate support services Facilitating group and individual interventions that encourage self-advocacy and social skills Contributing to ongoing program development and staff training Documenting services and maintaining compliance with state and federal guidelines This opportunity follows a traditional school scheduleMonday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., in alignment with the assigned academic calendar, and continues into the 2026-2027 school year.
