Full Job Description Boys & Girls Clubs Overview:

Since 1967, Boys & Girls Clubs has provided safe, affordable afterschool and summer programs for youth in Wake County. Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. By utilizing positive youth development practices and targeted programs focused on education, art, sports & recreation, health & wellness, leadership, and workforce readiness, we help young people age 6 through 18 achieve academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good character & citizenship.

Position Overview:

Boys & Girls Clubs recognizes the need to provide behavioral health services for our members. A new grant has funded the B.E.S.T. Manager position, which will oversee B.E.S.T. services. As a new initiative, the B.E.S.T. Manager will be a licensed clinician responsible for providing behavioral health services to underserved youth and families in a community-based setting. This person will help develop and implement the program based on a tiered support system, which will include conducting social-emotional skill building sessions, therapy, case management, and referrals. We are seeking a professional who is dedicated to building relationships, bridging gaps, and working in community.

Primary Functions:

• Responsible for overseeing the delivery of the Behavioral & Emotional Support Team initiative at all Clubs.
• Promotes the mission of the organization and supports the organization's Youth Development Outcomes. Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities): Universal Support
• Support Club staff through trainings that will improve youth mental health, trauma-informed practice, and social emotional programs.
• Provide trainings and events that support caregivers and families in improving youth mental health.
• Create and facilitate social emotional learning programs/activities for youth.
• Support the implementation of current targeted programs focused on mental health/social emotional learning (ie. SMART Moves, Street SMART, etc.). Targeted & Individual Support
• Provide group therapy, support groups, and/or skill-building sessions for youth in a small group setting.
• Provide case management and check-ins for targeted youth.
• Conduct risk assessments and safety planning for youth in crisis with Club staff and families.
• Develop and conduct behavior assessments and behavior plans with Club staff and families, utilizing methods that work best within the Club setting.
• Provide individual and/or family therapy, utilizing evidence-based methods that work best within the Club setting.
• Support youth and Clubs in responding to community violence and traumatic events.
• Develop, utilize, and train Club staff on service referral form.
• Develop and utilize intake form to determine service needs.
• Provide guidance on and follow all state licensure requirements surrounding confidentiality and record-keeping.
• Develop and utilize an evaluation tool/survey. Ongoing Support
• Build partnerships with community mental health agencies and other social service agencies.
• Make referrals for youth and/or families requiring intensive and/or ongoing treatment to community mental health agencies.
• Participate in relevant community coalitions and partnerships. Other Tasks
• Control program and activity expenditures within approved budget.
• Establish and maintain program goals.
• Ensure the evaluation of services on a continual basis by tracking attendance, writing case notes, and implementing surveys.
• Ensure services respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity.
• Recruit and supervise interns, especially BSW/MSW interns. Identify and support training and development opportunities for assigned volunteers and interns.
• Oversee proper record keeping and reporting including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements and any problems/issues.
• Build relationships with youth and families, and work in partnership with Club staff.
• Support grant-related activities as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Relationships:

Internal:

Maintain close, daily contact with Club Staff and Club members to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain, or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct, and advise/counsel.

External:

Maintain contact as needed with external community groups, schools, members' parents, and others to assist in supporting youth.

Skills/Knowledge Required:

• Must be a currently certified licensed clinical social worker (LCSW or LCSWA with outside supervision) in the state of North Carolina.
• Must have or be able to obtain and maintain Professional Liability Insurance.
• Experience working with youth.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Commitment to learning and doing Whatever It Takes to support youth and families.
• Ability to be creative and design a strong program.
• Demonstrate organizational, staff and project management abilities.

Other Requirements:

Required CPR, AED, and First Aid Training certifications within the first 90 days of employment. Must pass a criminal background check. Boys & Girls Clubs will provide approved staff shirts to be worn at all times unless other dress is announced.
