• Why does the job exist? The incumbent in this position serves as the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC) Coordinator for CYFD. Function of this position include but are not limited to processing and tracking all ICPC assignments through software applications, coordinating and communication with customers (i.e., other state coordinators, CYFD field staff, management, community-based providers, foster/adoptive parents, relatives, biological parents), and providing ongoing and regular training and technical assistance to stakeholders and field staff. How does it get done? The incumbent in this position manages the legal and administrative process of placing foster children across state lines. Key responsibilities include evaluating out of state placement, processing required paperwork, ensuring legal and financial compliance, and collaborating with child welfare agencies nationwide. Who are the customers? ICPC is implemented to keep children safe across state lines. Includes children in state custody and children from private agencies such as Residential Treatment Centers and private adoption agencies. Minimum Qualification Associate's degree in social work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Family Studies/Services, Social Sciences, or Human Services and one (1) year of experience as a social work assistant and/or in social or community coordination, working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, and/or behavioral health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
