Job Summary:

The School Social Worker provides evaluation, counseling and teacher consultation for students and families identified by the CPSE as a child with a disability as outlined in part 200 regulations of IDEA. The School Social Worker utilizes principles of growth and development in establishing guidelines for implementation of the student's IEP. The School Social Worker provides services in conformance with the New York State Practice Act.

Qualifications:

v Masters' Degree in Social Work from an institution accredited by the ASWA v NYS Certification v One year or more of direct clinical experience v Preschool experience

Job Responsibilities:

v Guide parents and families through the CPSE process by outlining the systems of the program as well as the parents'' rights and responsibilities and obtain parental consent to evaluate (form C1P) which is forwarded to the school district v Develop social history for children during initial evaluations v Provide counseling services in accordance with child's IEP v Submit all required paperwork, progress reports, report cards, session notes, etc., in a timely manner v Provide instruction and support to families, team members and other staff members consistent with accepted practice standards v Submit attendance documentation to the agency within required time frames v Maintain effective contact with all team members and/or Principal v Facilitate weekly team meetings v Plan and implement Parent Institutes related to behavior, parenting and

processes and transition to kindergarten

Additional Expectations:

v Assist in bringing children off the bus v Assisting in planning and implementing school-wide programs v Outreach and coordination related to food drives, clothing drives, and obtaining holiday gifts for children v Assisting families in issues of child abuse and neglect. As prescribed by principal and/or Teachers v Fulfill Professional Development requirements & Mandated Reporter requirements v Submit updated Medical as required v Fulfill obligations as Mandated Reporter Follow DOE school calendar.
