A Family, School, or General Social Worker provides specialized assistance to vulnerable families and children. Intervenes in crisis situations; evaluates individual and family needs, helps clients get access to health care, mental health care or social services such as housing assistance. Advocates for clients and provides follow up visits. May work with teachers, parents and school administrators to help students improve academically and deal with social issues such as bullying.

Approximate dates: Positions 1 & 2: 9/1/26 - 11/24/26 Position 3: 9/1/26 - 10/1/26 If/when the teacher goes to a without-pay status, the sub will become an interim sub and will be paid per LCTA agreement as applicable, i.e. step 1 master's degree = $55,300 prorated - step 8 masters' level = $58,750 prorated with full benefits.• 2025/26 rates
Core Responsibilities:
Provide direct social/emotional support to students. Provide staff with essential information to better understand factors (cultural, societal, economic, familial, health, etc.) affecting a student's performance/ behavior. Assist in developing positive behavioral intervention strategies as part of the Functional Behavioral Assessment process. Mobilize family, school, and community resources to enable the student to learn as effectively as possible in their educational program. Address parent concerns and provide community resources as necessary. Assist in developing/implementing educational programs for students with disabilities. Advocate for new and improved community/school service to meet the needs of students and families. Create a positive educational environment for students to learn, grow and promote success for students of all abilities. Promotes collaboration among community health and mental health service providers and facilitates student access to these services. Deliver Counseling Services (social skills group, individual and/or family). Participate in Committee on Special Education Meetings.
