In this role, you will provide guidance, advocacy, and resources to promote appropriate grief care and support, strengthen family units, and ensure safety and stability throughout the process of arranging and completing funeral or cremation services. Your compassionate approach will empower families to navigate their grief journey in unity, providing them with the guidance and support necessary to honor their loved ones while ensuring they feel comforted and respected throughout the entire funeral or cremation process. The ideal candidate is passionate about social services, skilled in crisis management, and experienced working with diverse populations of differing ages, cultures, religions, and social preferences. Responsibilities Act as family liaison from first call through arrangement process, tribute events, and follow-up Greet everyone with a warm and professional countenance as they enter either lobby door; assist or direct guests as appropriate according to the Entry Greeting Policy Assist with answering phone calls in a timely manner with a warm and professional countenance; assist or take a message as appropriate according to the Telephone Answering Policy Call next of kin or point of contact to schedule at-need, pre-need, or imminent-need appointments; answer questions as appropriate Communicate with staff via Connecteam for updates with phone messages, questions, and in-person assistance Monitor and follow-up with family via phone calls, texting app, and emails with respect, knowledge and appropriate answers, and update records. Create a trusting relationship with each family, and advocate for their needs throughout arrangement meetings and tribute planning Assist with paperwork completion as necessary; help create personalized obituaries Assist families with personal item drop-offs, urn handoffs, death certificate pick-ups, and other custom-ordered memorabilia Support family throughout tribute events: leading procession and recessional, assisting with special tribute moments (candles, butterflies, bubble release) Assist with any delegated task from management on the "Bag list" the day before any event that is scheduled and place initials once complete Requirements Proven experience working with children, families, or individuals of various ages, backgrounds, cultures, religions, or other social preferences Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—to effectively advocate for clients and collaborate with other members of the IST team Ability to manage crises calmly and efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude under pressure Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe, and Google Sheets for documentation and reporting purposes Bilingual abilities are highly desirable, but not required, to serve culturally diverse communities effectively Demonstrated commitment to supporting grief populations through compassionate care and culturally sensitive approaches Join us in making a lasting impact by empowering families through dedicated advocacy, comprehensive support, and unwavering commitment.
