Full Job Description PURPOSE:
Responsible for the oversight and leadership of St. Luke's Children and Youth ministry programs, including Sunday School, Junior Choristers, Vacation Bible School, St. Luke's Preschool Chapel, along with other children and familychurch-related activities. Reports to the Head of Staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee children's Sunday School classes, and other children's ministry activities using Lessons That Work curriculum (2026-27 School Year) and then Godly Play Curriculum (2027-28 School Year) on Sunday mornings. Recruit, train, schedule and support Sunday School and children's activities volunteers. Establish and maintain positive and healthy relationships with children and their families both on Sunday mornings, at events, and through communication. Promote children and youth activities within the St. Luke's community. Co-direct annual Vacation Bible School with St. Luke's Preschool Summer Camp Coordinator. Collaborate with preschool staff to strengthen the connection between the church and preschool. Plan and lead a weekly Children's Chapel for St. Luke's Preschool on Wednesday mornings, introducing preschool children to Bible stories, prayer, worship, and the liturgical seasons using the Lessons That Work curriculum. Serve as an ex-officio member of the Children's Formation Committee - attending monthly meetings. Work with the Music Director to recruit and retain choristers from the surrounding community. Rehearse the Junior Chorister (K-2) Rehearsals on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:00pm from October through May, working in conjunction with the Music Director. Lead Chorister rehearsal in the absence of the Music Director, to be arranged in advance. Be present when Choristers sing at liturgies, typically once a month plus Christmas Eve and Easter Day. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Education preferred, Associate's degree and/or equivalent experience accepted. Minimal 2 years working with young children - music, classroom management, and/or spiritual formation experience preferred. Minimal 2 years volunteer or staff supervision experience. Experience working with neurodivergent and/or children with special needs preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS
(Preferred) Episcopal Church's SafeChurch training. Can complete as part of onboarding upon hire. Certificate in Godly Play Successful candidate is eligible for paid time to complete Godly Play Certification Process - an average of 5hrs/wk (40hrs over 8 months)
