Job Description

The Community Schools Coordinator will provide specialized services to our partner school district. Seamlessly integrate into the school environment while representing Peaceful Schools with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to success. The purpose of the Community Schools Coordinator is to cultivate effective planning and implementation of the Community Schools initiative in partnership with the building principal and school stakeholders at a specifically assigned school site. These partnerships will be founded in respectful, trusting relationship forged between the school district and building personnel and the community stakeholders including parents and guardians of students who attend the school.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for all aspects of developing the Community Schools model and programming in partnership with and under the direction of the Peaceful Schools Director of Community Schools. Support the process of conducting a Needs & Assets Assessment, working with designated district and building data managers/teams to organize the data for presentation to stakeholders, working with identified teams to make sense of the data and to drive decision making. Organize and oversee assets and needs assessments on an ongoing basis and seek input from teachers, schools, school staff, parents, and students to determine ongoing needs of students and families. Guide and facilitate the development of a Community Schools plan specific to the assigned site, aligned with the District Community Schools goals and objectives and aligned with the school Educational Plan. Develop a work plan corresponding to the Community Schools goals and objectives. Support the coordination to implement a menu of needs-driven, high-quality programs and services in adherence with the community school model, including but not limited to expanded learning opportunities, health services, parent/family engagement adult education, direct material assistance, and interventions targeted to chronically absent students. Ensure alignment and integration of all programming with the district and building leaderships vision and family engagement priorities. Support initiative coordination in collaboration with the building principal, providing leadership for coordinating the work of different partners within the school, aligning the work of partners with school improvement goals. Coordinate the delivery of training and technical assistance to ensure cultural and linguistic appropriateness of services, programs, and communication efforts. Serve as a point person for agencies and programs interested in partnering with the school, facilitate alliances, and help to broker new partnerships with City agencies and not-for profits partners that are aligned with school goals and needs, establishing a continuum of services for students. Develop strong relationships with teachers, parents, and students. Build relationships and mechanisms to effectively link the school day to expanded learning opportunities outside of typical school hours including nights, weekends and during school recess. Support evaluation of the community school by participating in the coordination of data collection, timely submission of reports and responses to other requests for information. Work with school leadership to maintain a focus on results and track progress. Participate in capacity-building activities, including initiative-wide and site-based trainings, network meetings, and with the principal ensure the participation of other site-based staff as needed or required. Represent the community school strategy in various public forums as needed and participate in advocacy activities to promote the community school strategy. Assist school and partner agencies with resource management and development, including fund development and grant maintenance. Coordinate the allocation of space for student and family support services, and for special events. Collect and distribute donations and physical resources throughout the community. Collaborate and coordinate with the Community Schools Assistant(s) to align requested tasks with project priorities and to schedule requested supports.
    Documentation & Reporting:
    Timely completion of all required daily/weekly logs, required documentation, or status reports to ensure both compliance and quality assurance. Immediately report all reportable activities/incidents including those learned in groups or meetings, etc. to supervisor & building admin. contact person regarding reportable situations including but not limited to: Situations include violent acts, weapons possession, illegal substance use/sales, discrimination, and incidents meeting the threshold for police notification (e.g. nude photos) or suspension. If in doubt, report it. All reporting will be made via email. Actively participate in Peaceful Schools staff trainings and meetings, as well as in select school-based trainings and meetings.     Qualifications:
    1. Master's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Education, Psychology, Human Services or related field preferred, or significant relevant experience preferred. 2. Specialization in community organizing preferred. 3. Experience working within a social service or K-12 setting preferred. 4. Fingerprint and background clearance as required under Laws of New York 2001, Chapter 180, and its subsequent amendments. 5. Knowledge and experience planning and conducting professional development or large group presentation. 6. Computer and social media literate including basics in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and social media platforms such as but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
    Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
    Full-time, Salaried Non-Exempt position. Strict adherence to assigned schedule. Typical schedule is Monday through Friday as per assigned school building with the ability to report to company headquarters and other locations as assigned when school is not in session.
    Attendance:
    Due to the contractual obligations with the school district, this position requires consistent, punctual, and regular attendance. While daily on-site presence is generally expected, team members may be required to leave the worksite during the workday for approved work-related errands, meetings, trainings, deliveries, or other business. Employees are expected to maintain communication with their supervisor and follow established procedures when working off-site or away from their primary location.
    Reliability:
    Must be present, clocked in on time, and prepared to start work at all scheduled times and clocking out at end of work day.
    Punctuality:
    Maintain a consistent and reliable work schedule, arriving promptly to begin start of workday.
    Notification:
    Personally, notifies the supervisor immediately if unable to report to work or needing to leave early adhering to the policy. Summer schedules and assigned location may vary as determined by project needs. Participation in Professional Development sessions, Open House and Curriculum night events, other essential school functions, and report to assigned location as determined by Project Director. The position will require NYS Driver License and reliable private transportation to easily travel between Peaceful Schools main office, assigned school sites, and other locations as needed. May include but not be limited to community agencies, businesses, and home visits. Some telecommuting/remote work with supervisor approval. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. Essential functions can be performed with or without accommodation.
    Pay:
    $46,800.00 - $54,184.00 per year
