Up to 21 hours per week | Monday-Friday 2 pm-6 pm, evening and weekend hours may be available

Sunnyside Programs at PS 343-The Children's Lab School Position Overview This position will be a part of our Youth and Family Services offered at Sunnyside Community Services. Reporting directly to the Campus Director and Assistant Director, the Afterschool Group Leader is primarily responsible for the overall supervision and well-being of the participants, academic, and fostering social emotional learning in the classroom.

• Ensure the safety of all program participants, including daily attendance tracking.
• Assist Instructors and subcontractors in the implementation of lessons and activities.
• Provide program support and supervision at all times.
• Provide academic assistance in the form of homework help.
• Supervise Bathroom Breaks, Nurse Visits, and provide minor first aid as needed.
• Maintain program areas, keeping them clean and organized.
• Motivate and maintain active involvement of all program participants.
• Attend all required meetings and training courses.
• Work with assigned team members to collectively create a safe, brave, and learning space for all assigned participants.
• Meet regularly with supervisors and other staff members to share best practices and address challenges.
• Document all medical and behavioral incidents.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Ability to work independently and as a team player
• Must be at least 18 years old, or have graduated from High School by September 1st
• Experience working with children in an after-school or summer camp setting is strongly encouraged
• This position begins after clearances and requires online training to be completed.
• After-school staff are expected to be committed to the position until the end of the school year in June.
