Job Description

Category Schools - Social Worker Job Type Contract Play a vital role in supporting a middle school student with severe autism and high needs as a dedicated Social Worker on a full-time contract basis. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a school-based environment, working closely with students, educators, and support staff. The assignment begins August 4, 2026, and features a Monday through Friday schedule totaling 35 hours per week, with the additional flexibility of one remote workday each week.
Key Qualifications:
Licensed Social Worker with experience in school or healthcare settings Background in social work for students with autism or high behavioral needs is preferred Strong understanding of IEP processes, behavioral interventions, and crisis management Ability to provide both 1:1 direct support and guidance to educational assistants Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills Compassionate, patient, and adaptable demeanor
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide direct, individualized social work services to a middle school student with severe autism Develop, implement, and monitor behavior and support plans in collaboration with the instructional team Offer strategies and professional guidance to an assigned Education Assistant, ensuring consistency and effective care Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, maintaining thorough records and contributing to progress reports Communicate regularly with families and school staff to support the student's social, emotional, and academic growth Advocate for student needs and connect families to community resources as appropriate This contract role provides a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the life of a student and share expertise with a supportive school team.
