A Family, School, or General Social Worker provides specialized assistance to vulnerable families and children. Intervenes in crisis situations; evaluates individual and family needs, helps clients get access to health care, mental health care or social services such as housing assistance. Advocates for clients and provides follow up visits. May work with teachers, parents and school administrators to help students improve academically and deal with social issues such as bullying.

Job Description

High school diploma or GED; two years of experience in maintenance, general labor, or custodial work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be highly motivated, goal driven and a self-starter; strong interpersonal and communication skills, and able to work well with others. Must possess or obtain within nine months of employment, a Registered Technician Pesticide License. Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at time of interview. Record must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required. This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. Our parks maintenance staff work year-round, enjoy early hours, and benefit from a strong benefits package. Uniforms, safety footwear and personal protective equipment are provided. Performs a variety of maintenance and operational tasks to support school and park facilities, special events, athletic fields, and surrounding grounds that includes cleaning and stocking of park restrooms, preparing picnic shelters for reservations Performs school grounds maintenance tasks that includes mowing, weed eating, litter control, and other general maintenance tasks via schoolwork order system Works in various outdoor conditions performing physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting, walking and prolong standing. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external customers, contractors, and team members. Communicates effectively. Perform other work as required. This position is a part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.
