A Family, School, or General Social Worker provides specialized assistance to vulnerable families and children. Intervenes in crisis situations; evaluates individual and family needs, helps clients get access to health care, mental health care or social services such as housing assistance. Advocates for clients and provides follow up visits. May work with teachers, parents and school administrators to help students improve academically and deal with social issues such as bullying.

Job Description

The New River Valley Community Services' Jail Diversion Team is seeking a dedicated professional to join in treating and supporting criminal justice-involved adults. The Program Clinician would work part of a multidisciplinary team in providing services to incarcerated individuals and supports them in transitioning to the community setting. The role provides a wide range of services including short-term interventions and assessment, medication management supports, substance use treatment, and coordination of care post release. Salary Range:
License-Eligible:
$52,500.00- $60,375.00
Licensed:
$58,800.00- $67,620.00
Education Requirements:
Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or other license-eligible Human Services field is required. State of Virginia license is required in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy. If not fully licensed with the Virginia Board of Counseling, you are required to register and become licensed-eligible within three months of hire (if applicable). At least one year of clinical experience working with individuals with mental illness, substance use disorders, developmental and/or intellectual disabilities, is preferred. Experience working with substance use disorders and those with SMI preferred. Additional compensation will be considered for any new employees who speak multiple languages.
