Jul 1, 2026 Job Description Social-Emotional Learning & Behavioral Supports Coordinator (Anticipated Grant-Funded Position - Project AWARE) Position Summary The Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) & Behavioral Supports Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and implementation support for a comprehensive, district-wide approach to student mental health, social-emotional learning, and behavioral supports. This role is funded through the Project AWARE grant and is responsible for aligning school-based practices with evidence-based frameworks, including PBIS and CASEL. The Coordinator works closely with school leaders, educators, and community partners to strengthen systems of support, build staff capacity, and ensure students have access to responsive, effective services that promote well-being and academic success. Key Responsibilities Systems Leadership & Coordination Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) for social-emotional learning and behavior Coordinate and sustain PBIS initiatives across schools, ensuring fidelity and alignment with district priorities Oversee and manage all aspects of the Project AWARE grant, including implementation, compliance, reporting, and evaluation Collaborate with district and school leadership to align SEL and behavioral supports with Continuous Improvement Plans and strategic goals Training & Capacity Building Design and deliver professional learning for educators, administrators, and staff on integrating SEL into daily instruction, including explicit teaching of CASEL competencies Model and support evidence-based instructional strategies that embed social-emotional learning within academic content Coach school-based teams through implementation of SEL and behavioral frameworks Support staff in using consistent, equitable, and proactive approaches to student behavior Student Support & Referral Systems Develop and strengthen systems for identifying and supporting students with social-emotional and behavioral needs Collaborate with school teams to ensure effective referral processes and intervention planning Partner with local designated agencies and community providers to coordinate services and supports for students and families Facilitate communication and collaboration between schools and external mental health providers Assessment, Data, & Reporting Oversee and manage district-wide data systems, including SSIS (Social Skills Improvement System) and SWIS (School-Wide Information System), to monitor student social-emotional and behavioral outcomes Ensure consistent, accurate data collection practices across schools to support reliable decision-making Support school and SU-level teams in analyzing SEL and behavioral data to inform instruction, intervention, and systems-level improvements Implement and manage a system for assessing and monitoring student growth in CASEL competencies Support schools in using SEL and behavioral data to inform instruction and intervention Present data (academic, behavioral, and social-emotional) to district leadership and school boards to support decision-making Ensure compliance with grant reporting requirements and contribute to program evaluation Family & Community Engagement Support schools in engaging families as partners in student well-being Coordinate outreach and communication related to SEL and mental health initiatives Strengthen partnerships with community organizations and service providers Qualifications Required Relevant licensure or eligibility for licensure (e.g., school counselor, clinical social worker, mental health counselor) Experience working in school-based or youth-serving settings Background in trauma-informed practices and restorative approaches Knowledge of PBIS, MTSS, and SEL frameworks (e.g., CASEL competencies) Preferred Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related mental health field Experience managing or supporting grant-funded initiatives Demonstrated experience in leadership, program coordination, or systems-level work Experience designing and delivering professional development or training Experience with data systems and progress monitoring Experience collaborating with community agencies and managing referrals for student support services Skills & Attributes Strong systems thinking and organizational skills Ability to build relationships and collaborate across roles and organizations Skilled facilitator and communicator, including public presentation Commitment to equity and culturally responsive practices Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a grant-funded environment Physical Requirements The work environment is in a mixed environment, with moderate noise, temperatures that are controlled, and no exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements. The work is light/moderate work, requiring exertion of up to 30 pounds of force to move or lift objects.
