Job Description
We are recruiting for a Youth Program Educator, called a LEO/BFI Coordinator, to join our team. This is a full-time position that provides services in Wood County, Wisconsin and may require some early mornings or late afternoons to meet the diverse scheduling needs of our middle and high school partners and youth. Our Learn and Empower Oneself (LEO) is operated through the Brighter Futures Initiative (BFI), Substance Use Prevention program in Wood County. The program provides alternatives to substance use and risk behaviors for youth and emerging adults ages 12 through age 20. This coordinator will provide services through out Wood County in partnership with three other coordinators in the county. Our LEO Program is currently embedded in several schools in Wood County. The coordinator teaches the Learn & Empower Oneself curriculum, which is an 6 to 8-hour course that teach youth how and why the brain responds the way it does and provides concrete tools to increase resiliency by cooling down the lower (or primitive) brain and activating higher-brain functioning. The tools learned in the classroom provide both education and alternative strategies to addictive behaviors. LEO is based upon the concepts and tools from the Life Ecology Organization. In addition, the coordinator will provide individual mentorship for youth to help them apply the LEO concepts and tools into their every-day life.
