Job Description

Counselor - Lewis Academy Coosa Valley Youth Services | Anniston, Alabama Coosa Valley Youth Services is seeking a full-time Counselor for Lewis Academy, our residential program serving adolescent males involved in the juvenile justice system. This position provides individual, group, and family counseling while helping youth develop the skills needed to make positive behavioral changes and successfully transition back to their families and communities. Key Responsibilities Provide individual, group, and family counseling Complete assessments and develop individualized treatment plans Provide crisis intervention and respond to mental health and safety concerns Monitor and document youth progress Participate as a member of the youth's treatment team Work collaboratively with families, program staff, courts, DHR, schools, and other agencies Assist with aftercare and transition planning Maintain accurate and confidential clinical and program documentation Support the overall safety, structure, and mission of the program Qualifications Master's degree or higher in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Sociology, or a related clinical field Strong counseling, communication, documentation, and crisis-intervention skills Ability to work effectively with adolescents in a structured residential environment Experience working with at-risk youth, juvenile justice, behavioral health, or residential programs preferred Valid driver's license and ability to meet agency insurance requirements Make an Impact This is an opportunity to do meaningful work with young people who need structure, accountability, guidance, and someone willing to help them see a different path forward.
