Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will leverage your personal experiences and training to provide support, guidance, and encouragement to individuals facing mental health challenges or addiction issues. Your lived experience will be invaluable in fostering hope and resilience in those you assist, helping them navigate their recovery journey. Duties Provide one-on-one support to individuals in recovery, utilizing your personal experiences to foster trust and understanding. Conduct crisis intervention and management as needed, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients. Assist clients in developing coping strategies and life skills through motivational interviewing techniques. Facilitate support groups and workshops focused on behavioral health, mental health counseling, and addiction recovery. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create comprehensive care plans tailored to individual client needs. Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions using EHR systems to track progress and outcomes. Mentor clients by sharing resources, tools, and strategies that promote self-advocacy and empowerment. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in social work and peer support. Requirements Certification as a Peer Specialist or equivalent experience in a relevant field. Strong background in behavioral health, mental health counseling, crisis intervention, and crisis management. Experience with addiction counseling is preferred but not mandatory. Proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques to effectively engage clients. Familiarity with EHR systems for documentation purposes. Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations. A genuine passion for helping others achieve their recovery goals through mentorship and support.
