Responsibilities Provide peer support by sharing personal recovery experiences to motivate and empower clients. Develop trusting relationships with individuals experiencing mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders. Assist clients in developing recovery goals and connecting them with appropriate resources and services. Use crisis management skills to de-escalate situations, perform crisis intervention when necessary, and ensure safety for all involved. Employ motivational interviewing techniques to encourage behavioral change and enhance client engagement. Maintain strict confidentiality of client information in accordance with privacy laws and organizational policies. Document interactions accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring timely updates and compliance with documentation standards. Advocate for peer support initiatives and promote harm reduction strategies within the community. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support holistic client care, respecting cultural diversity and individual preferences. Participate in ongoing training related to behavioral health, addiction counseling, social work practices, and culturally competent care. Skills Strong crisis management and crisis intervention capabilities to handle urgent situations effectively. Deep understanding of behavioral health issues, mental health counseling techniques, and addiction recovery principles. Experience working with individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds and communities. Proven ability to share personal recovery stories to inspire hope and foster trust. Excellent client communication skills with an empathetic approach tailored to individual needs. Knowledge of harm reduction principles and motivational interviewing methods to facilitate positive behavioral changes. Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for documentation purposes. Ability to mentor peers and advocate for peer support programs effectively.
