Overview We are seeking a dedicated PRN (as-needed) Social Work and Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities Conduct thorough mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards to accurately determine client needs. Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions incorporating evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, trauma-focused therapy, and behavior management techniques. Implement crisis intervention strategies promptly and effectively to de-escalate situations involving acute mental health or behavioral crises. Facilitate intake procedures, ensuring comprehensive documentation while adhering to HIPAA regulations and clinical documentation standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including medical professionals and case managers—to coordinate care for clients with co-occurring disorders or developmental disabilities. Engage in ongoing research and data collection efforts to support clinical research initiatives and improve service delivery outcomes. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and medical terminology relevant to mental health treatment. Provide telehealth therapy sessions utilizing secure platforms to expand access to mental health services across diverse populations. Support clients through grief counseling, addiction counseling, PTSD care, and chronic pain counseling as part of comprehensive behavioral health services. Experience Proven experience working with adults and families in clinical or inpatient settings; experience is highly valued. Demonstrated expertise in crisis management, trauma-focused therapy, and behavior management strategies for individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder. Familiarity with hospital environments or inpatient psychiatric units is preferred; experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders enhances your candidacy. Strong background in clinical counseling techniques such as psychodynamic therapy, social work practices, and evidence-based behavioral therapies. Knowledge of medical records management, clinical documentation standards, ICD/ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and medical terminology is essential for accurate recordkeeping. Experience delivering telehealth services using HIPAA-compliant platforms Ability to perform mental health assessments and treatment planning within clinical ethical guidelines while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA regulations.
