Education:

Job Summary The Mental Health Counselor provides individual, group, and family counseling services to clients experiencing emotional, psychological, and behavioral challenges. This role focuses on supporting clients in understanding and managing mental health issues, developing coping strategies, and improving overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities Client Assessment:

Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate clients' mental health needs. Use standardized tools and clinical interviews to identify presenting issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health conditions.

Counseling and Therapy:

Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions (e.g., CBT, ACT, ERP, DBT, trauma-focused therapy, MI, SBT). Facilitate individual, group, and family counseling sessions tailored to clients' goals. Develop and implement personalized treatment plans.

Crisis Intervention:

Respond to clients in crisis, providing de-escalation techniques and immediate support, with the guidance of the direct supervisor. Coordinate with emergency services or other resources when necessary. Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including community groups, psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, to ensure holistic care. Coordinate with schools, community organizations, and families for integrated treatment.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and timely records of client interactions, treatment progress, and outcomes in compliance with ethical and legal standards. Prepare reports for use in case consultations and compliance audits.

Education and Advocacy:

Provide psychoeducation to clients and their families on mental health issues, coping skills, and treatment options. Advocate for clients' needs within systems such as healthcare, education, or community support. Qualifications Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.

Licensure:

Must hold a valid license as a Registered Intern or be open to obtain the license during the first six months of service.

Experience:

1-2 years of clinical experience preferred (internship experience considered). Experience with diverse populations and a range of mental health conditions is highly desirable.

Skills:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Bilingual preferred (Fluent). Ability to build therapeutic relationships with clients. Proficient in clinical documentation and case management.
