12-Hour Day and Night Shifts (7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m.); Weekends and Holidays Required Your Work Matters How will you make a difference? As a Crisis Assessment Clinician, you will play a vital role in helping establish a new, 24-hour crisis assessment and placement service at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Urbana, IL. Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, this service will support patients who present to the emergency department and the hospital's 40-bed inpatient behavioral health unit. In this role, you will complete timely behavioral health assessments, determine the appropriate level of care, coordinate inpatient placement and community referrals, and support safe transitions throughout the continuum of care. You will work closely with providers, nursing, case management, and other clinical partners to ensure patients receive timely, appropriate services. • Complete timely crisis assessments for patients presenting to the emergency department and determine the most appropriate level of behavioral healthcare
• Assess and help stabilize patients prior to discharge from the emergency department or admission to an inpatient setting
• Evaluate mental status, safety risks, behavioral health needs, and substance-use concerns to support appropriate treatment and placement decisions
• Coordinate with the on-call provider and interdisciplinary clinical team, including assisting with patient interviews and communicating assessment findings
• Secure inpatient bed placement for patients who require admission and coordinate referrals to appropriate community resources or lower levels of care
• Develop post-assessment safety plans for patients who do not require inpatient admission
• Provide crisis assessment and placement support to the 40-bed inpatient behavioral health unit
• Document and process inquiry calls, crisis assessments, placement activity, intake logs, and required outcome information in accordance with policy
• Complete follow-up calls for patients referred to a lower level of care, as assigned
• Identify and respond to safety concerns, escalating significant events or operational issues to leadership promptly while applying age-appropriate standards of care and demonstrating professional, compassionate service Your Experience Matters What we're looking for:

Education & Licensure:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in a human services, behavioral health, counseling, social work, psychology, or related field, or an active Illinois Registered Nurse license. Illinois licensure as a mental health professional, such as a social worker or counselor, is preferred for non-nursing candidates.

Experience:

A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a psychiatric hospital setting, including patient or customer contact. Experience completing psychiatric assessments in an acute psychiatric setting is strongly preferred.

Additional Skill Requirements:

Working knowledge of current mental status examination practices and addiction and recovery principles. Strong assessment, documentation, communication, and critical-thinking skills; ability to work effectively both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team; and ability to remain calm and efficient in high-stress situations. Compensation:

We are seeking a full-time Crisis Assessment Clinician. Compensation ranges from $28.00 to $32.00 per hour , contingent upon factors such as education, experience, qualifications, and skill level.
