Overview The Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS) provides community-based and office-based psychosocial skills training to children, adolescents, and adults ages 5 and older who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, or functional challenges. The BHS works directly with clients and families to develop and strengthen skills related to emotional regulation, coping strategies, social interactions, problem-solving, communication, daily living skills, and overall mental health functioning. Services are provided in natural environments, including homes, schools, community settings, and the office, with the goal of helping clients improve independence, achieve treatment goals, and enhance their quality of life. The BHS collaborates with clinicians, caregivers, and treatment teams to support individualized care while providing compassionate, trauma-informed, and person-centered services. The ideal candidate is dependable, empathetic, organized, and committed to helping individuals and families create meaningful change. Duties Provide psychosocial skills training to clients ages 5 and older in community and office settings. Teach and support development of coping skills, emotional regulation, social skills, communication skills, and daily living skills. Implement interventions based on individualized treatment plans. Assist clients in improving functioning at home, school, work, and within the community. Build positive therapeutic relationships while maintaining professional boundaries. Collaborate with clinicians, caregivers, and treatment teams to support client goals. Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation. Participate in supervision, training, and team meetings. Provide trauma-informed, person-centered support to help clients increase independence and improve quality of life.. Requirements Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Rehabilitation Services, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Secondary Education, Family and Consumer Sciences, Criminal Justice, or Human Growth and Development. Experience working with children, adolescents, adults, or individuals with behavioral health needs is preferred. Ability to complete accurate, timely, and clinically appropriate documentation. Strong written communication skills and ability to document client progress according to agency and Medicaid requirements. Proficiency with technology, including electronic health records, virtual communication platforms, email, and other computer-based systems. Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Ability to provide services in community and office-based settings.
