Job Description

Agency Overview Cutchins Programs for Children and Families is dedicated to supporting children and families by fostering hope, resilience, and connection. Grounded in compassion and integrity, we create safe environments that promote growth, learning, and healing through nurturing relationships and community-based supports. The Cutchins New Directions School is a small therapeutic day school that operates year-round with a summer program that follows the academic school year. The school is acknowledged by MAAPS and approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. New Directions provides Academic, Vocational, and clinical services to each admitted student. All of our students are also supported by our Occupational Therapy team, which integrates sensory regulation opportunities into our programming. New Directions offers a predictable, safe and trauma-informed environment that supports students' individualized needs as identified in their Individual Education Programs (IEPs).
Job Summary:
The Student and Family Support Coordinator plays an integral role in creating a positive learning environment for all students by serving as liaison between families and school personnel. Responsibilities associated with this position also include the supervision and oversight of the teaching assistants to support students in making progress towards their academic, social, emotional, behavioral goals. The Coordinator will demonstrate supportive and functional skills which assist the students in accessing their learning by eliminating barriers and strengthening skills.
Essential Job Functions:
Assist in creating a safe and supportive school environment that enhances student's access to learning and promotes opportunities for social/emotional growth. Model and demonstrate de-escalation, classroom management, and conflict resolution skills to assist students during challenges. Assist in the development and implementation of school wide behavior expectations, individualized support plans and interventions, as well as restorative practices. Maintain student attendance and discipline records, in accordance with school policies. Facilitate the implementation of the school wide incentive program and track related data to monitor student progress. Plan and facilitate student and/or family experiences and activities throughout the school year. Engage in two-way communication with parents/guardians and community providers/programs regarding student progress, discipline, attendance, and school events in order to maintain positive school/family/community relations and partnerships that enhance services. Oversee and manage teaching assistant staff through regular supervision and ongoing training; providing feedback and coaching, tracking attendance, and evaluation. Adhere to all school policies, DESE mandates, state laws and regulations, as well as the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Uphold best practices to ensure the health and welfare of the student body and assist the Director of Education with the development and implementation of schoolwide improvement goals. Assist in the recruiting of teaching assistant staff by participating in the hiring process. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Education.
Qualifications- Education & Experience :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required, Master's degree preferred. Degree verification required. Minimum of 5+ years of successful experience in an educational setting Administrative experience including supervision, evaluation, and training strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge regarding Special Education processes and procedures, DESE regulations and student behavioral support systems and plans. Skills in managing and de-escalating high stress situations and student behaviors. Effective use of conflict resolution strategies and implementation of restorative practices. Flexibility and adaptability with responding effectively to changing needs and priorities. Ability to make independent and trauma-informed decisions which align with the school's mission and goals. Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills; active listening, cultural competence, balancing firmness with empathy. Proven leadership, inclusive of the capacity to effectively collaborate and motivate others, as well as foster professional development. Commitment to student centered practices, focused on relationships and student success. $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
