Are you a licensed behavioral health professional looking for a rewarding role that gets you out from behind a clinic desk and directly into the community? Health Readiness Resources Foundation is seeking a School-Based Non-Medical Integrated Behavioral Health Counseling (SNIC) Counselor in Roswell, New Mexico. This is not a traditional, office-bound outpatient therapy role. As a SNIC Counselor, you will be deeply embedded in the school community—maintaining a highly visible, proactive, and approachable presence in hallways, common areas, and school events to support students before concerns escalate. Using a brief, solution-focused, prevention-driven model, you will help students build resilience, manage emotions, and navigate daily challenges right where they are. What You Will Do (Essential Duties):

Proactive Engagement:

Maintain a visible walk-around presence on campus (hallways, lunch areas, arrival/dismissal) to build trust and reduce the stigma around behavioral health.

Student and Family Support:

Provide brief, non-medical, solution-focused individual support and facilitate dynamic psychoeducational skill-building groups on topics like coping skills, stress management, and conflict resolution.

Staff Consultation:

Act as a vital, non-clinical resource for teachers, administrators, and school nurses, offering practical strategies for de-escalation and classroom climate.

Warm Handoffs:

Conduct trauma-informed screenings and implement individualized support plans. When a student requires formal therapy, diagnosis, or crisis intervention, you will bridge the gap by connecting families to higher-level care.

Streamlined Documentation:

Document daily services in a de-identified, aggregate format to protect student privacy, completing entries on the same day services are delivered. Position Requirements (Must-Haves):

Education:

Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a closely related behavioral health field.

Licensure:

Active, unrestricted New Mexico behavioral health license (such as

LCSW, LMSW, LISW, LMHC, LPCC, LMFT

) or the verified ability to obtain it before your start date.

Experience:

Background working with children, adolescents, families, or school systems.

Compliance:

Ability to successfully pass all required background checks, fingerprinting, and school site clearances. Strong understanding of New Mexico mandatory reporting guidelines.

Scope Awareness:

Comfort working strictly within a non-medical scope (no formal psychotherapy, clinical diagnosing, or medication management).

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with non-medical counseling, MFLC-style support, or prevention-focused models. Experience working with military-connected youth, rural communities, or underserved populations. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are highly preferred.
