of 3-11pm. No other shifts are available. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Crisis Intervention Counselor to join our dynamic mental health team. In this vital role, you will provide immediate support and stabilization for individuals experiencing mental health crises, ensuring their safety and connecting them with appropriate resources. Your expertise will help de-escalate high-stress situations, conduct thorough assessments, and deliver evidence-based interventions to promote recovery and resilience. Responsibilities Respond promptly to crisis calls and emergency situations, utilizing de-escalation techniques to manage high-risk behaviors and emotional distress. Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including risk assessments and clinical documentation in accordance with HIPAA standards. Develop individualized crisis intervention plans based on clinical evaluations, incorporating tools such as DSM-5 criteria and ICD coding for accurate diagnosis. Provide short-term psychotherapy, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, grief counseling, and behavioral therapy to stabilize clients. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management, discharge planning, and follow-up care for clients with co-occurring disorders or developmental disabilities. Maintain detailed medical records and electronic health records (EHR) management while adhering to confidentiality standards and medical documentation protocols. Educate clients and families on coping strategies, community resources, and treatment options related to mental health conditions such as PTSD, substance use disorders, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and behavioral management issues. Qualifications Bachelor's or master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling or a related field; licensure or certification preferred. Proven experience in crisis intervention within hospital settings, community care environments, or acute care facilities. Strong knowledge of mental health assessments, psychiatric patient care, and clinical crisis intervention assessment tools. Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and DSM-5 diagnostic standards. Experience working with children, adolescents, individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), substance use disorders, PTSD care, and high-risk populations. Skilled in de-escalation techniques, behavioral management strategies, and trauma-informed care approaches. Ability to collect data accurately for research purposes while maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA regulations. Excellent communication skills for client engagement through individual or group counseling sessions; adept at client communication and social work practices.
