Job Description

We're hiring a NYS Certified Peer Specialist for our client in Middletown, NY. Ideal candidate will have past experience working as a Youth Peer and has past lived experience in a Mental Health Facility and MUST be a Certified Peer Specialist Duties Provide peer support and advocacy to individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders Serve as a role model and mentor to individuals in recovery Assist individuals in developing and achieving their personal recovery goals Conduct individual and group sessions to promote wellness and self-care Collaborate with treatment teams to develop and implement individualized care plan Utilize crisis intervention techniques to provide immediate support during times of crisis Assist individuals in navigating behavioral health systems and accessing community resources Document client interactions and progress in accordance with agency policies
Experience:
Certification as a NYS Peer Specialist or willingness to obtain certification Experience working in the field of mental health required Knowledge of crisis management techniques and strategies Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques Understanding of behavioral health systems and community resources Ability to effectively communicate and build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Skills Crisis intervention Mentoring Lived experience Mental health counseling Motivational interviewing We offer competitive compensation, a supportive work environment, and opportunities for professional growth.
