Joseph's House & Shelter, an award winning non-profit agency in the Capital Region is looking for per-diem and part-time Support Staff to join our team. These Support Staff will be responsible for working with our formerly homeless tenants who have a primary diagnosis of mental illness, alcohol and/or substance abuse. These open positions are based in Lansingburgh, Albany, and Troy. The right candidate will be empathetic, compassionate, non-judgmental, and able to understand the Harm Reduction/Housing First model of housing homeless individuals. Job Responsibilities Responsible for the operation of the Hill Street Inn or Lansing Inn during the evening, overnight and weekend shifts in accordance with established rules and procedures. To provide comfort and hospitality to all Hill Street and Lansing Inn House tenants. To ensure the safety and comfort of all tenants during the evening/overnight and weekend shifts. To supervise all operations during the evening/overnight and weekend shifts. To ensure that all shift responsibilities are met, including all necessary cleaning and meal preparation. To attend regularly scheduled supervisory meetings with the Shift Coordinator. To work a flexible schedule to meet program needs. To make necessary entries into the log book. Demonstrates ability and flexibility to work as a team member. Is consistent and follows through on all assigned tasks.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness, or substance use disorders is preferred. Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Commitment to providing non-judgmental, person-centered support. Ability to use Microsoft Word and Google email
