Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction (ODRC) Position Overview The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction (ODRC) is seeking a qualified Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) to join its interdisciplinary mental health team. This position provides comprehensive mental health services to incarcerated individuals, including assessments, treatment planning, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and case management.
Note:
Candidates must hold an active Ohio LISW or LPCC license with appropriate documentation. This position also has the potential to convert from temporary to permanent employment (temp-to-hire). Key ResponsibilitiesMental Health Assessment & Treatment Conduct comprehensive mental health screenings, psychosocial assessments, and risk evaluations. Perform suicide risk assessments when permitted within the scope of practice and in accordance with ODRC policies. Develop and contribute to individualized mental health treatment plans. Complete psychosocial needs assessments, transfer summaries, and discharge summaries. Clinical Counseling Provide individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Facilitate psychosocial and psychoeducational group sessions. Monitor offender progress toward treatment goals and update treatment plans as needed. Serve as the assigned mental health liaison for an offender caseload. Case Management & Collaboration Coordinate care with psychiatrists, psychologists, nursing staff, correctional personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members. Consult with institutional staff regarding offender adjustment, behavioral concerns, and treatment needs. Communicate with families, community agencies, and outside providers as appropriate. Make community referrals to support continuity of care upon release. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate and timely electronic documentation of all patient contacts, assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, discharge plans, and other required reports. Ensure compliance with ODRC policies, professional standards, and applicable licensing board requirements. Prepare clinical reports and other documentation as required. Professional Development Participate in supervision meetings, interdisciplinary team meetings, and case conferences. Attend required in-service training sessions and continuing education workshops. Perform additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Active Ohio Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) license. Appropriate documentation verifying professional licensure. Experience providing behavioral health or mental health counseling preferred. Strong assessment, crisis intervention, documentation, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Comfortable working in a correctional healthcare environment.
