A Mental or Behavioral Health Counselor works with patients to treat mental health problems. Assesses patients and assists with diagnosis, counseling and crisis intervention. Consults with nurses, doctors and psychiatrists. May work with specific populations, such as youth, senior citizens or substance abusers, in group settings, facilities or hospitals.
New Priorities Family Services is a nonprofit mental health and alcohol/drug Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). We are an integrated co-occurring facility where clients can receive both mental health and/or substance use treatment in a structured, therapeutic environment. Our Redmond program serves youth, families, DUII clients, and individuals involved with probation who require a higher level of care than traditional outpatient services while maintaining their daily living, work, school, and family responsibilities. NPFS collaborates with community agencies including adult corrections, schools, medical providers, school districts, probation/parole, and other local partners. We also provide DUII and relapse prevention services within our continuum of care.

With Hope, With Change, Brings New Life We currently have an opening for an Alcohol and Drug Counselor within our Intensive Outpatient Program. Hours are to be determined and may include some evenings. Interns and individuals pursuing CADC certification are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to CADC-certified professionals; a QMHA credential is a plus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive screening, assessment, and ASAM Level of Care determinations to establish IOP eligibility and individualized treatment plans. Facilitate group sessions, incorporating evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and relapse prevention. Provide individual counseling, family education, and aftercare planning focused on relapse prevention and recovery maintenance. Deliver services that are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and nonjudgmental. Collaborate with family members, probation/parole officers, schools, and other support systems to promote recovery stability and accountability. Provide case management, community resource referrals, and coordination of care with medical and mental health providers. Document all clinical activities in compliance with state and agency policy requirements. Possible involvement in DUII programming and coordination with residential facilities for clients stepping down from or up to higher levels of care. This position also requires the following qualifications and experience: • High school diploma or GED completion or willing to complete core addiction classes needed for CADC certification. Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor I (CADC I) or CADC interns with capacity to secure within 12 months of employment.
