Duties Conduct individual and group counseling sessions utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy, attachment-based therapy for children, and other evidence-based approaches tailored to student needs. Perform comprehensive patient assessments and diagnostic evaluations to identify mental health concerns, including trauma, PTSD, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and behavioral challenges. Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that incorporate crisis management, crisis intervention, case management, and behavioral management strategies. Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, school staff, and external healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and support student success. Maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and school policies using social work documentation tools and medical records systems. Provide culturally sensitive counseling that respects diverse backgrounds while addressing issues such as social work challenges, conflict management, and working with families. Engage in ongoing professional development related to adolescent development, medical terminology relevant to mental health care, and current best practices in school-based counseling. Requirements Valid licensure as a School-Based Mental Health Counselor or equivalent credential in your state. Proven experience working with children and adolescents in educational or clinical settings. Strong knowledge of behavioral health principles including addiction counseling, trauma-informed care, applied behavior analysis, and evidence-based psychotherapy techniques such as motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy. Familiarity with medical terminology related to mental health conditions and experience managing medical documentation standards. Ability to handle crisis situations effectively through crisis management skills and crisis intervention techniques. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills for working with diverse populations and engaging families in child & family counseling efforts. $70,000.00 - $82,000.00 per year
