Counselor Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Counselor to provide behavioral health and addiction counseling services. Duties Conduct individual and group counseling sessions focused on behavioral health and addiction recovery. Assess clients' mental health status, substance use history, and treatment needs through interviews and standardized assessments. Develop personalized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, setting achievable goals for recovery and mental wellness. Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to each client's unique circumstances. Monitor client progress regularly, adjusting treatment strategies as needed to ensure effective outcomes. Educate clients about coping skills, relapse prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices. Maintain detailed and confidential documentation of all counseling sessions, assessments, and treatment plans in compliance with organizational policies. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, case managers, and support networks to coordinate comprehensive care. Stay current with best practices in behavioral health and addiction counseling through ongoing professional development. Experience Prior experience in behavioral health counseling or addiction treatment is preferred. Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, or similar approaches is advantageous. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse populations. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy. Certification or licensure relevant to counseling or mental health services may be required depending on jurisdiction.
