Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough preliminary assessments with new clients, documenting case histories from the initial consultation through to the completion of treatment. Evaluate clients' mental, emotional, and behavioral health including identifying significant risk factors that could impede recovery. Develop tailored treatment and intervention plans that address the unique needs of individuals, couples, families, and groups. Facilitate therapeutic sessions which may include individual therapy as well as structured group therapy, utilizing various modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Continuously monitor and review clients' progress towards goals outlined in their treatment plans, making adjustments as necessary in collaboration with other mental health professionals. Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, sharing insights and strategies, enabling comprehensive care that addresses physical, emotional, and social aspects of clients' well-being. Actively follow up with psychiatrists and attending physicians regarding clients admitted to inpatient facilities to ensure holistic treatment continuity. Support family members and primary caregivers in implementing recommended strategies to manage behavioral challenges at home. Patient Population / Client Focus Our ideal candidate will work with a diverse client base, including individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders, among other mental health issues. The counselor's ability to build trust and rapport with clients from various backgrounds is essential for facilitating effective healing and providing a supportive environment. Qualifications A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required. Current and valid licensure as an LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor), LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), or LCSW-R in the state of New York. A passing score on the NCE (National Counselor Examination) and/or the NCMHCE (National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination).
