N/A A Brief Overview:
The Behavioral Health Clinician PD, carries out the mission of the Perinatal Depression Program (to identify and support women and families at risk for perinatal mood disorders) by responding to calls received by the 866-364-MOMS hotline, providing emotional support, assessing the status of the caller, and developing a joint plan for intervention and initiating outreach calls to patients who have scored in the depressed range on the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, completing a psychosocial assessment of the patient, and developing a joint action plan. Results of this activity to be reported to the director and/or the coordinator of the program.What you will do:
Provide emotional support to callers to the phone hotline. Maintain a steady and even affective state in the face of high anxiety and/or symptoms of depression from a caller. Provide support, empathy, normalization/validation as appropriate. Assess the status of the caller. Assess thoroughly for symptoms of depression, anxiety, etc. Ask clearly and directly about suicidal ideation and previous or current suicidal attempts. Explore with caller her internal strengths identifying personal resources that have helped her through hard times. Assess environmental stressors and/or supports, including marital relationship. Develop a joint plan for intervention. Identify appropriate resources for each caller via program resource list, various databases, and other means. Acknowledge and define callers' strengths and join with her in making an appropriate intervention plan, including therapy, medication, emergency room visit, etc. Maintain regular contact with the director or coordinator of the program regarding complex situations or questions. Initiate calls to patients who score in the depressed range on the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale. At the request of the director or coordinator, call select patients who have scored high. Complete a psychosocial assessment of the patient, provide support as needed, and develop a joint action plan. Return the completed assessment documentation to the director or coordinator within 24 hours. Complete documentation of all hotline calls and outgoing patient outreach calls within 24 hours according to program standards. Submit payroll information in a timely fashion. Participate in phone conferences and meetings with program staff as scheduled/needed. Knowledge and application of Perinatal Depression Program policies and procedures.What you will need:
Bachelors Degree Mental Health Services Required Or Doctorate Mental Health Services Required Or PHD Mental Health Services Required 3 Years Experience in the area of mental health services Employee must be competent and comfortable with telephone contact with potentially extremely distressed callers. Employee must have exceptionally sensitive interview skills, and excellent time management ability. An understanding of the dynamics and etiology of postpartum depression as a crisis is critical.
