Description Position Overview Millennial Counseling Centre is seeking a full-time Trauma-Focused Mental Health Counselor to provide specialized mental health services for individuals impacted by trauma. Our outpatient community health clinic strives to empower individuals through trauma-informed care, specializing in conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Work Environment This role is fully remote, allowing for a flexible work environment while using advanced technology to support client interaction. You will join a passionate team focused on delivering high-quality trauma care. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough trauma-informed mental health assessments to understand patients' backgrounds, current situations, and any previous experiences impacting their mental health. Create and implement individualized treatment plans aimed at trauma recovery, focusing on resilience and coping strategies tailored to each patient's unique needs. Utilize evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), to provide effective interventions. Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions designed to help patients process their traumas and develop healthy coping mechanisms. Work closely with psychiatrists and other mental health professionals to produce comprehensive and integrated care for all patients. Provide crisis intervention services in critical situations that require immediate attention and support. Educate patients and their families on trauma responses, coping strategies, and available mental health resources in a supportive and approachable manner. Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential patient documentation in compliance with all legal standards and ethical practices. Participate in regular case consultations, team meetings, and professional development opportunities to enhance trauma-informed practices. Stay informed about the latest research and practices in trauma therapy to continually improve treatment approaches. Patient Population / Client Focus This role focuses on individuals who have experienced trauma, including those living with PTSD, complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. You will play a critical role in guiding your clients through their recovery process, helping them develop coping skills and resilience to overcome past challenges. Qualifications A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution. Current, valid licensure as an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), or LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) in the state of New Jersey. Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed care principles and trauma-related disorders. Preferred Experience A minimum of two years of clinical experience post-licensure is preferred. Proven experience with trauma-focused therapies and interventions. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, emphasizing a compassionate, client-centered approach. Ability to perform effectively in high-stress situations while maintaining a calm demeanor. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and productivity software.
