Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will provide evidence-based addiction counseling and mental health support to individuals struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Your expertise will help clients navigate their recovery journey, develop coping strategies, and achieve lasting wellness. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including diagnostic evaluations using DSM-5 criteria, to determine treatment needs and develop personalized care plans. Deliver individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapy techniques. Facilitate family and child counseling sessions to support holistic recovery and strengthen support systems. Manage crisis interventions effectively, ensuring immediate safety and appropriate follow-up care for clients experiencing acute distress or emergencies. Maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards, including medical records, progress notes, treatment plans, and billing documentation using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on case management, treatment planning, and coordination of home or community-based care services. Stay current with research developments in addiction medicine, mental health counseling, and behavioral health practices to ensure the delivery of evidence-based care. Skills Extensive experience in psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, crisis management, and behavioral therapy techniques. Strong background in child & family counseling, group therapy facilitation, and working with individuals with substance use disorders. Proficiency in clinical documentation standards, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and data collection methods. Skilled in crisis intervention strategies for patients with co-occurring disorders or PTSD Care needs. Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems for electronic health records management and medical documentation compliance. Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations using DSM-5 criteria; experience with ICD coding is preferred. Excellent communication skills for patient assessment, case management, and interdisciplinary collaboration within behavioral health settings.
