About Tree of Life Family Services Tree of Life Family Services LLC provides behavioral health services to children and families throughout Northern Virginia. About the Position We are seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Therapeutic Day Treatment (TDT) Counselors to join our growing school-based team in Loudoun County. TDT Counselors work directly with children and adolescents who need additional emotional, behavioral, or mental health support within the school environment. Counselors help students strengthen coping skills, emotional regulation, communication, social skills, problem-solving, and overall school functioning. What You'll Do Provide individual therapeutic interventions, behavioral support, and skill-building activities Conduct individual student sessions and classroom observations Implement individualized treatment goals and monitor student progress Conduct weekly family sessions and participate in care coordination with school social workers and treatment providers Provide appropriate crisis intervention and de-escalation support Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation Participate in supervision, case consultation, meetings, and required training Maintain professional relationships with students, families, school staff, and the Tree of Life team QMHP Credential Requirement Candidates must hold the appropriate Virginia registration required to provide TDT services. We are seeking candidates with an active QMHP or QMHP-Trainee (QMHP-T) registration . Candidates who may qualify for QMHP-T may be considered during the initial screening process while pursuing registration. However, the required active credential must be received and verified by Tree of Life before a final employment offer for the TDT Counselor position is issued. A pending application or receipt does not constitute credential approval. What We're Looking For Bachelor's or master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, human services, or a related field Experience working with children or adolescents preferred Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills Dependable, punctual, professional, and comfortable working independently in a school setting Ability to collaborate with families, school personnel, supervisors, and treatment providers Reliable transportation to assigned school locations Willingness to learn, receive supervision, and grow professionally School Assignment, Schedule & Caseload Counselors are assigned to schools and student caseloads based on referrals, authorizations, staffing, student needs, and program operations. School assignments, caseloads, schedules, and available hours may change based on program and student needs. Consistency matters. Counselors are expected to arrive on time, maintain reliable attendance, remain actively engaged with assigned students, complete documentation, and communicate promptly regarding absences or scheduling concerns. TDT primarily follows the school calendar , with counselors generally working Monday through Friday during school hours. School holidays, breaks, weather closures, and other periods when students are unavailable may affect scheduled hours. Summer TDT opportunities may be available based on student participation, authorizations, staffing, and program needs. Summer schedules and assignments may differ from the regular school year.
