Job Description

Overview The Peer Mentor plays a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals facing challenges related to mental health, addiction, or behavioral health issues. This position involves leveraging personal experiences and knowledge to foster a supportive environment that encourages personal growth and recovery. The Peer Mentor will work collaboratively with clients, helping them navigate their journeys while promoting resilience and empowerment. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one mentoring and support to individuals in need, focusing on their unique challenges and goals. Utilize crisis management techniques to assist clients during difficult moments, ensuring their safety and well-being. attend group sessions that promote peer support, sharing of experiences, and collective problem-solving. Employ motivational interviewing strategies to encourage clients to explore their feelings and make positive changes. Assist clients in accessing resources related to mental health counseling, addiction counseling, and behavioral health services. Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies. Collaborate with social workers, counselors, and other professionals to develop comprehensive support plans for clients. Stay informed about best practices in crisis intervention and behavioral health systems to provide effective support. Requirements Proven experience or training in crisis management, social work, or mentoring is preferred. Strong understanding of behavioral health issues, including mental health and addiction challenges. Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals. Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques is highly desirable. Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively manage crisis situations. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in all client interactions. A background in mental health counseling or addiction counseling is a plus but not mandatory. Must possess a genuine desire to help others achieve their personal goals and improve their quality of life.
