Responsibilities Intern (MSW) - Behavioral Health - Grand Forks, ND Horizon Health is seeking a Intern (MSW) for our
BRAND NEW
unit called Altru Behavioral Health Center in Grand Forks, ND. This unit will be a 24 bed inpatient unit for both adult and pediatric patients. We are also planning to expand to an additional 24 beds in 2026. Altru Health System and Universal Health Services are working together in expanding inpatient behavioral health services. The MSW Student Intern provides supervised, hands-on experience in clinical social work practice, applying classroom learning to real-world settings. Interns work alongside licensed clinicians and interdisciplinary teams to support individuals, families, and communities, developing skills in psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, counseling, and care coordination
Responsibilities:
Conduct psychosocial and functional assessments to identify strengths, needs, and barriers Assist in developing and monitoring individualized treatment, service, or care plans in collaboration with the care team Provide supportive counseling, psychoeducation, and crisis intervention under supervision Observe and co-facilitate individual or group therapy sessions, and participate in treatment rounds, case conferences, and staff meetings Coordinate referrals to outpatient providers, community resources, and support services Participate in safety planning, family meetings, and interdisciplinary planning discussions Document all interactions in the electronic medical record in compliance with agency, hospital, and university guidelines Contribute to program development, outreach, and community engagement initiatives Adhere to ethical and legal standards, including HIPAA and the NASW Code of Ethics Attend regular field instruction and clinical supervision meetings Other duties as assigned or required for this position.
