Based on TMI's established pay scale, with consideration given to education, experience, and licensure Job Overview The Martinsburg Initiative is seeking a School-Based Behavioral Health Clinician to provide comprehensive behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and families throughout Jefferson County Schools. The clinician will deliver trauma-informed, evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, treatment, crisis intervention, family engagement, and care coordination services. This position works collaboratively with students, caregivers, school personnel, healthcare providers, Child Protective Services, courts, and community organizations to improve access to care and support students' emotional wellness, family stability, academic success, and positive development. Services will be provided in school, office, and telehealth settings. The clinician will maintain a caseload of approximately 30 students, adjusted according to clinical complexity, treatment frequency, and individual service needs. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive psychosocial and behavioral health assessments. Formulate behavioral health diagnoses within the clinician's scope of licensure. Develop individualized treatment plans, service goals, and discharge plans. Provide individual, family, parent-child, psychoeducational, and group behavioral health services. Utilize evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, SBIRT, parent management training, and other interventions appropriate to the clinician's training and licensure. Provide crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, safety planning, caregiver notification, and coordination with school personnel in accordance with TMI and Jefferson County Schools procedures. Administer and monitor validated behavioral health screening and assessment tools, which may include the PHQ-A, GAD-7, Vanderbilt Assessment Scales, and Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale. Monitor student progress through structured reassessments, symptom monitoring, and measurement-based care practices. Coordinate services with families, school personnel, healthcare providers, Child Protective Services, courts, and community agencies. Participate in treatment team meetings, multidisciplinary staffing, case consultations, and collaborative care planning. Attend SAT, MDT, IEP, Section 504, crisis-response, and other school-based meetings when clinically appropriate and consistent with the student's treatment plan. Provide caregiver counseling, parenting education, psychoeducation, and coaching to strengthen family involvement and reinforce treatment goals. Develop therapy groups, support groups, workshops, and psychoeducational resources for students and families. Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with agency policies, Medicaid requirements, HIPAA, professional ethical standards, and grant requirements. Participate in program implementation, clinical outcome monitoring, quality-improvement activities, data collection, and grant reporting. Attend required clinical supervision, staff meetings, professional development activities, and continuing education. Travel between Jefferson County school locations using a personal vehicle. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or another related behavioral health field from an accredited institution. Active West Virginia behavioral health license, such as LGSW, LICSW, LPC, ALPS, LMFT, or an equivalent credential. Knowledge of child and adolescent development, family systems, trauma, behavioral health disorders, crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, treatment planning, and evidence-based practices. Strong clinical assessment, therapeutic intervention, care coordination, communication, organization, and documentation skills. Ability to work independently, manage an active caseload, and collaborate effectively with students, families, schools, healthcare providers, and community partners. Ability and willingness to travel throughout Jefferson County Schools using a personal vehicle. Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, cultural responsiveness, and high-quality trauma-informed care. Preferred Qualifications Independent Clinical licensure. At least two years of behavioral health experience providing assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and families. Experience in school-based behavioral health, trauma-informed care, family systems, collaborative care, or evidence-based treatment. Experience working with schools, healthcare systems, Child Protective Services, courts, or other community agencies. Familiarity with electronic health records, Medicaid-compliant documentation, behavioral health screening tools, measurement-based care, quality improvement, and grant-funded programs.
