TIME FAMILY ASSISTANT

Madison, Connecticut Start Date ASAP Schedule Monday through Friday Approximately 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM most days 25 guaranteed hours per week Some flexibility on Friday afternoons Optional weekend hours may be available Compensation & Benefits $50 to $60 per hour, based on experience $350 monthly health and wellness stipend 5 paid vacation days 5 paid sick/personal days 6 paid holidays Family vehicle provided during working hours Position Overview A warm, active family in Madison, Connecticut is seeking an experienced and highly dependable Part Time Family Assistant to become a trusted, long term part of their household. The family has three boys, 9 year old twins and a 5 year old, as well as a gentle senior Labrador. Their household is loving, supportive, energetic, and very active. With school, sports, activities, and two busy working parents, they are looking for someone who can step in and help keep both the children and household running smoothly. This is a blended position combining family assistance and household organization with afternoon and evening childcare. During quieter hours, the Family Assistant will focus on household organization, errands, laundry, meal preparation, and keeping things in order. Once the children are home from school, the focus shifts primarily to their care, transportation, activities, homework, dinner, and evening routines. The family previously had a full time Nanny/Home Manager who was with them for more than eight years and is hoping to find another wonderful person who values longevity and wants to become a trusted extension of the family. Responsibilities Childcare & Family Support Pick up the children from school and provide safe, reliable transportation to practices, games, and activities Supervise and engage all three boys after school Provide additional hands on engagement and supervision for the 5 year old Help with homework and keep the after school routine organized and on track Prepare and serve simple, kid friendly snacks and meals Assist with dinner, baths, and bedtime routines as needed Keep track of the children's schedules, activities, gear, and supplies Help ensure the children are prepared and where they need to be on time Household Support Handle family laundry and children's laundry Perform light housekeeping and keep shared living areas neat and organized Tidy children's bedrooms and belongings Run errands and grocery shop as needed Assist with family meal preparation Maintain general household organization Help anticipate household needs and take initiative without needing constant direction Assist with light care of the family's senior Labrador, including feeding and letting the dog outside Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, warm, flexible, and highly dependable. This family needs someone who naturally notices what needs to be done and takes care of it rather than waiting for a list of instructions. The right person will be calm and confident in a busy household and genuinely enjoy working with school age children. They should be able to manage multiple schedules and changing plans while remaining patient and organized. Candidates should have previous experience caring for multiple children and be comfortable balancing childcare with Family Assistant and household responsibilities. Strong communication skills, excellent judgment, discretion, reliability, and a genuine desire to become a long term part of the household are essential. Qualifications Previous professional childcare, nanny, or Family Assistant experience Experience caring for multiple children Strong organizational and household management skills Confident and safe driver with a clean driving record Comfortable transporting children to school, sports, and activities Comfortable preparing simple family and children's meals Comfortable with a senior dog CPR and First Aid certification preferred Strong professional references Demonstrated longevity in previous positions strongly preferred Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion Additional Details The family's primary residence is in Madison, Connecticut. They also have a nearby beach home in Clinton, Connecticut, where they spend summer weekends, as well as a home in Ludlow, Vermont, where they spend winter weekends. Travel is not required for this position. However, there may be opportunities for the Family Assistant to join the family for occasional weekends in Vermont if mutually desired.
