Assist with preparing lunches and snacks according to the center's menus and food-program requirements Learn how to properly prepare, portion, organize, and distribute meals for each classroom Prepare classroom lunch and snack bins and make sure all required items are included Wash, rinse, sanitize, and properly store dishes, utensils, cups, serving containers, and kitchen equipment Rewash and sanitize all dishes and containers that leave the kitchen and are returned Clean and sanitize countertops, sinks, appliances, carts, shelving, and food-preparation areas Sweep and mop kitchen floors and keep the kitchen organized throughout the day Properly store food, label items, check expiration dates, and help prevent food waste Follow food-safety, sanitation, allergy, and special-diet procedures Maintain accurate meal counts and complete required kitchen paperwork Take out trash and keep food-storage areas clean and orderly Notify administration when food, cleaning products, or kitchen supplies are running low Assist with light cleaning throughout the child care center as needed Work respectfully and cooperatively with teachers, administration, and other staff members Follow all center policies, health requirements, and licensing regulations
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old Must have a high school diploma or GED Must be able to pass all required background checks Must be dependable, punctual, organized, and able to follow instructions Must be comfortable working around children and in a busy child care environment Must understand the importance of cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety Must be able to stand for extended periods, bend, lift, carry, and complete daily cleaning duties Previous kitchen, food-service, school, or child care experience is helpful but not required Must be willing to complete any required food-handler or center trainings We are looking for someone who takes pride in keeping the kitchen clean, pays attention to detail, and understands how important properly prepared meals and snacks are to the children in our care.
