The North Suburban YMCA seek responsible individuals to work in our Childwatch babysitting area. Responsible for the care of children aged infant through 10 years of age while their parents are working out. This individual must enjoy working with children and work well in a team setting. Prior experience working with children a must. Hours of employment will vary and flexibility is a plus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Supervises the children, ages infant through 10 years of age in the Childwatch Babysitting Room. 2. Follows all policies, procedures and standards as established by the Y; maintains the program site, equipment, and required program records. 3. Nurtures children through purposeful programming. 4. Creates a positive rapport and shared interest with all youth. 5. Provides opportunities for youth to learn life-long skills such as taking turns. 6. Provides and welcomes ongoing dialogue with parents and caregivers about their child's needs and progress; connects families to the Y. 7. Attends and participates in staff meetings, and staff training as assigned. 8. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
: 1. Meets educational and experience qualifications established the Y. 2. CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required (YMCA can assist with certification or re-certifications). 3. Child Abuse Prevention training required within 30 days of hire. 4. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred. 5. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities. 6. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time. 2. Position may require bending, lifting, kneeling or walking. 3. Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
