J ob Description Reports to: Chief Operating Officer (CEO)
Summary:
The Childcare Director is responsible for overseeing the Childcare facility, ensuring that all children have a safe and fun environment. Duties include, but are not limited to managing instructors and staff, setting budgets, and proactively communicating with parent(s)/guardian(s) to accommodate their child's needs. The Director shall have demonstrable experience in managing all aspects of a day care or childcare center or nursery school, as well as strong communication and leadership skills. The Director shall work collaboratively with management, have am affinity for working children, and strive to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment for children.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop a curriculum and program by working closely with the center's instructors and staff, create learning plans or programs to meet state and federal requirements and parent's expectations. Manage the center by ensuring it is safe and welcoming. That includes checking that safety equipment is available and working, removing hazards, and ensuring the facility is always clean and orderly. Manage the center's budget. Market the Center to promote awareness of the facility and its services. Meeting up with parents/guardians and Instructors to keep them up to date on their child's development and progress, including discussing ways to address any learning or behavioral issues. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.Work Hours:
Monday-Friday 8am-5pm or as needed by the agency.Education, Experience, Licensing, and Other Position Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or in related fields of Child Development Elementary Education Background.Childcare:
5+ years of experience. Hold current certification in Pediatric First Aid and CPR Ensure compliance with licensing and competency standards mandated by the state of MD, MD Excel, and MD Accreditation. Maintain management of the staff, ratios, scheduling, and training. The Director must have two years' experience working under supervision primarily with preschoolers in a licensed childcare center as well as five years of experience as a childcare center manager.
