Job Description

Position Summary The Kitchen Staff member plays an important role in providing nutritious meals and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment. This position is responsible for preparing and serving meals and snacks according to state licensing and food safety guidelines while also assisting with center operations throughout the day. Responsibilities Food Preparation Prepare and serve daily breakfast, morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack. Follow weekly menus and portion guidelines. Ensure meals meet food safety and sanitation standards. Monitor food inventory and notify the Director when supplies are running low. Properly store, label, and rotate food items. Kitchen Responsibilities Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment throughout the day. Clean and sanitize all kitchen surfaces, appliances, sinks, and food preparation areas. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen at all times. Take out trash and recycling as needed. Follow all state licensing requirements and health department regulations. Classroom & Center Support Assist with classroom staff breaks as needed. Help ensure classrooms remain appropriately staffed during staff lunches and breaks. Support teachers with light classroom tasks when appropriate. Daily Cleaning Duties Complete assigned daily cleaning tasks throughout the center. Assist with maintaining clean common areas, bathrooms, and other shared spaces. Help prepare the center for the following day by completing end-of-day cleaning responsibilities. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in food service, child care, or a related field is preferred but not required. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices is a plus. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods. Must successfully complete all required background studies and any required training before or upon employment. Skills & Characteristics Dependable and punctual. Positive attitude and team player. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently. Strong communication skills. Enjoys working in an environment that supports young children and families. Takes pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming facility.
Pay:
$15.00 - $19.00 per hour
