This vital role involves operating commercial vehicles such as school buses or vans while maintaining the highest standards of safety, customer service, and professionalism. Responsibilities Safely operate school buses or vans in accordance with all traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations. Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to verify operational safety. Respond quickly and appropriately to traffic changes, emergency situations, or unexpected delays using defensive driving techniques and emergency response procedures. Maintain communication with childcare staff and dispatchers to provide updates on arrival times or any issues encountered during transit. Requirements Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport; clean driving record. Proven experience driving buses or vans in a school or transit setting. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and emergency stop procedures. Excellent communication skills. Recommended Certification in First Aid and CPR. Experience working with children or in childcare environments Strong attention to detail for vehicle inspections, safety checks, and documentation; good writing skills for logs and reports.
