4-Year-Old & 6.5-Year-Old Girls in the UWS Overview This family is looking for an active, playful, and engaged part-time sitter for their two girls, ages 4 and 6.5. The afternoon starts with meeting the older child at her bus stop, followed by picking up her younger sister from preschool. From there, it's playground time when the weather is nice or heading home for snacks, art projects, and play. This is a completely screen-free role, and the family would love someone who genuinely enjoys getting involved, whether that's running around at the playground, making friendship bracelets, or pulling out the art supplies. This is an Always On recurring booking with an ongoing month-to-month commitment. You'll coordinate your schedule directly with the family each month, making it a great opportunity for someone looking for recurring bookings with flexibility. While this role does not include formal benefits, sick time is accrued at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked. The Ideal Candidate for this Job You're active, playful, warm, and ready to get off the playground bench and join in! You enjoy arts and crafts just as much as running around outside and know how to keep two energetic kids engaged without screens. You're also comfortable setting clear boundaries and following through while taking a thoughtful approach to sibling disagreements. This family doesn't use time-outs and prefers redirection, conversation, warmth, and a little silliness to help everyone reset. The girls have a Montessori background, and their parents encourage independence and age-appropriate responsibility. You'll reinforce that by helping them take care of their belongings, put away toys and dishes, and contribute to their home. This is a particularly great role for someone seeking a flexible ongoing arrangement, such as an auditioning actor, artist, or individual in grad school. You're passionate about childcare and are excited to work in a position that doesn't require a long-term commitment.

End of October, early November About the Children 6.5-year-old, girl: She's active, playful, and loves getting outside to run around. She also enjoys art and creative projects and is used to having age-appropriate independence and responsibilities at home. 4-year-old, girl: She's also active, silly, and creative and loves playing with her older sister. The girls are great playmates most of the time, with the occasional very normal sibling disagreement! They respond well to someone who can warmly redirect them and help shift the energy when a conflict pops up. Both girls love art, and the family keeps plenty of supplies at home for creative afternoons. Responsibilities The afternoon starts around 3:30 P.M. by meeting the older child at her bus stop, followed by picking up the younger child from preschool nearby. From there, you'll take the girls to the playground when the weather cooperates or head home for snacks, active play, and creative activities. This is a completely screen-free role, so the sitter should be ready to actively engage with the girls throughout the afternoon. You'll also help reinforce the family's routines around independence and taking care of their home, including encouraging the girls to put away their own dishes, toys, and belongings. When sibling disagreements happen, you'll use redirection and conversation rather than time-outs and work with the parents to stay consistent with their approach. Since the family only needs childcare until around 5:30 P.M., part of the 4-hour shift may also include helping with their dog, such as taking the dog out before school pickup. Additional Information The family has a large, friendly, goofy, and energetic dog, so the sitter should be very comfortable around dogs. The home is in an elevator building.
