Function of Position:
The function of this position is to assistant teachers in a learning environment. This position may be funded through Federal Work Study (FWS) and/or departmental budgetary funds, depending on eligibility and departmental need. Federal Work Study applicants must be approved by the Financial Aid Office prior to employment consideration. If you are unsure of your FWS eligibility, please contact Financial Aid before applying. Applicants must include their M# in any correspondence with the Financial Aid Office.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
•Duties will vary in each classroom based on needs of children and lead instructors Support classroom instruction, activities, and routines, with duties varying based on classroom needs. Assist with child supervision, personal care, and maintaining a safe, organized learning environment. Prepare materials, support classroom activities, and contribute to a positive atmosphere. Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff. Follow schedules, participate in training, and demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to growth.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Enrollment in an early childhood education, child development, or academic program at Monroe Community College. Demonstrated patience and a strong sense of responsibility. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Ability to pass a background check and child abuse clearance, as required by New York State regulations. CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe upon hire. Must be currently enrolled as a student at Monroe Community College Must maintain satisfactory academic progress and be in good academic standing Federal Work Study eligibility is required for FWS-funded positions (must be approved by the Financial Aid Office prior to hire)
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with young children in a supervised setting (e.g., daycare, preschool, camp, after-school program, babysitting). Familiarity with New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations related to childcare. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with children, parents, and staff. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Flexibility and adaptability to changing daily routines and children's needs. Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
