Two School-Aged Children Start Date:
December 2026-January 2027
Children :
Two school-aged children, ages 6 and 8
Schedule :
Variable evenings and weekends | Approximately 6-12 shifts per month
Guaranteed Compensation:
$2,200-$2,500/month, paid regardless of hours needed About the Position A warm, active family is seeking a dependable and flexible long-term nanny for two school-aged children. This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys a nontraditional schedule and wants the security of guaranteed monthly compensation without a traditional full-time schedule. Mom is a Realtor, so her childcare needs vary depending on showings, appointments, events, and other work commitments. Some shifts will be scheduled 1-2 weeks in advance, while others may arise on shorter notice—occasionally with as little as two hours' notice. Because of the short-notice nature of the position, the family strongly prefers a nanny who lives nearby and has the flexibility to accommodate a changing schedule. The nanny will receive a guaranteed flat monthly rate of approximately $2,200-$2,500, regardless of how much care the family ultimately needs that month. Additional compensation will be provided during periods requiring significantly more coverage. For perspective, over the past year, the family's current nanny has typically worked between 6 and 12 shifts per month. Depending on the month and hours worked, the guaranteed compensation has effectively equated to approximately $50-$100/hour. Schedule There is no set weekly schedule. Instead, shifts will fall within the following general windows:
Monday-Friday:
Primarily 5:00/5:30-8:30/9:00 PM, with occasional later evenings up to approximately 11:30
PM Saturday & Sunday:
Variable shifts falling between approximately 9:00 AM-9:00 PM; examples may include 9:00 AM-1:00 PM or 1:00-6:00
PM School Closures/Breaks:
Occasional daytime coverage may be requested
Notice:
Anywhere from 1-2 weeks in advance to occasional last-minute requests with approximately two hours' notice Some months are naturally busier than others. January and February are typically lighter, while June tends to require more coverage. Approximately once per year, the family may also need increased availability for a two-week period. The monthly guarantee remains consistent during lighter months, even when fewer shifts are needed. About the Children The children are active, funny, bright, and involved in sports, including football, basketball, and cheerleading. They enjoy spending time together and generally get along very well. Their 8-year-old does best with clear expectations, consistency, and one-step-at-a-time directions. He is loving and social but may test boundaries, so a caregiver who can confidently remain the adult in charge while being patient and supportive will be the best fit. Their 6-year-old is witty, independent, bright, and very warm once she gets to know someone. Responsibilities The role is primarily focused on childcare and keeping the children's routines running smoothly.
Responsibilities include:
School and activity pickups using the nanny's vehicle Transportation to sports and extracurricular activities Preparing simple dinners and healthy snacks Managing bath and bedtime routines Engaging with the children through play and conversation Maintaining clear, consistent boundaries and family expectations Cleaning dishes and resetting areas used during the shift Occasional child-related laundry as needed for school or sports Ideal Candidate The ideal nanny will be mature, dependable, engaging, flexible, and confident setting boundaries. The children respond especially well to experienced caregivers who are loving and fun but also comfortable taking charge. This position is particularly well suited for someone who values a substantial guaranteed monthly income while working a relatively limited number of shifts and has the flexibility to accommodate both advance scheduling and occasional short-notice requests. Candidates must have a reliable vehicle and clean driving record. The family prefers routine vaccinations to be current; a seasonal flu vaccination is appreciated but not required. There may also be opportunities for occasional travel with the family or additional childcare while the parents travel. Above all, the family is seeking a long-term nanny who can embrace the flexibility of this unique role and become a consistent, trusted presence in their children's lives.
