Aftercare Supervisor Holy Redeemer Catholic School - 4.1 Portland, OR Job Details Part-time $20 - $22 an hour 18 hours ago Qualifications Childcare CPR Certification Conflict de-escalation De-escalation support in education First Aid Certification Organizational skills Experience working with elementary school students Emergency care First aid and CPR Full Job Description Position Summary The Aftercare Supervisor leads the daily operation of our before/after-school care program for school-age children. This person creates a safe, structured, and engaging environment during the hours between the end of the school day and family pickup — overseeing staff, guiding activities, and serving as the primary point of contact for families during aftercare hours.
Hours:
M/T/Th/F 1:45-5:45 pm, W 12:45-5:45 pm, Early Release Days (4) 12:00-5:45 pm
Extra Hours:
This person does sub for staff in the mornings as needed.
Summer Hours:
8 weeks full- time for Summer Camps 9:15 am - 5:45 pm Key Responsibilities Supervision & Safety Maintain constant, active supervision of children and ensure required staff-to-child ratios are met at all times Conduct sign-in/sign-out and verify authorized pickups for each child Implement health, safety, and emergency procedures, including drills, incident reporting, and administration of first aid Monitor allergies, medications, and individual care plans Program & Activities Plan and lead a daily flow of activities — homework/quiet time, snack, active play, arts, and enrichment Adapt activities to a mixed age range and varied interests Prepare and set up materials; maintain an organized, welcoming space Staff Leadership Supervise and support aftercare assistants and aides; delegate daily tasks Model positive guidance and developmentally appropriate behavior-management techniques Provide informal coaching and flag training or performance concerns to the Program Director Family Communication Serve as the daily point of contact for parents during aftercare hours Communicate about each child's day, behavior, and any incidents in a warm, professional manner Support enrollment, attendance tracking, and billing information as needed Compliance & Operations Ensure the program meets Oregon Office of Child Care (ELD) regulations and licensing standards Maintain accurate attendance, incident, and required documentation Keep the environment clean, sanitized, and stocked Qualifications Required Minimum age 20 with some college classes Experience working with school-age children in a childcare, camp, or education setting Current (or ability to obtain) Oregon Central Background Registry enrollment CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within [30] days) Completion of Oregon's required health, safety, and recognizing-abuse training (or ability to complete on hire) Strong communication, organization, and de-escalation skills Preferred Prior supervisory or lead-staff experience Coursework or credentials in early childhood education, education, recreation, or a related field Familiarity with Oregon childcare licensing requirements Physical Requirements Able to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to [40] lbs Able to respond quickly in emergency situations

$20.00 - $22.00 per hour
